Single Review: Maighréad – “Sooner”

One of the plus sides of venturing into this music blogging world, is that that you can be introduced to a hell of a lot of different artists and genres, that you wouldn’t normally get the chance to hear about or listen to. A case in point would be that of London based – via Limerick, Ireland – electro pop songstress Maighréad, who sent me on the extended version of her single “Sooner”.

There isn’t any information on Maighréad’s website to indicate whether “Sooner” is in fact her debut release or not, but if it turns out to be, then this seductive, disco infused, electro number, is one hell of a way to kick start her solo career. Maighréad’s powerfully velvet and soulful sounding vocals, are at times quite reminiscent of Donna Summer and Candi Staton. “Sooner” – which is released on Meon Records – is a track that seems destined to get the good time vibes flowing with ease all year round, on any given dance floor.
