Single Review: Ausmuteants – “Boiling Point”

Ausmuteants picGeelong’s Ausmuteants formed in late 2011, when Jake Robertson (Hierophants and Frowning Clouds) and Billy Gardner (Living Eyes and Wet Blankets), decided to explore their love of all things synth-punk, i.e. Devo, the Screamers & Chrome. In no time at all they had released their first album Split Personalities, which was in turn swiftly followed by the additions of Shaun Connor on guitar and Marc Dean on bass. Their sophomore record Amusements appeared last year to great acclaim, which helped raise the band’s profile outside of the state of Victoria no end.

Today Ausmuteants unveiled “Boiling Point” – courtesy of Stereogum – giving us a sneak peek of what to expect from their forthcoming third record Order of Operation. The track is a two minute whirlwind of synth induced ferocity, entwined with some pulsating drumming and shredding guitar, all of which is tied together perfectly courtesy of some howling vocals.

The latest track follows hot on the heels of “Freedom of Information”, in having been divulged with the world at large, prior to Order of Operation being released at the end of this month, by Aarght Records here in Oz and Goner Records in the US.
